The Schachter Method™ is my original framework for integrating AI into organizational learning through cognitive excavation rather than content generation. This methodology synthesizes my background in English education, my freewriting pedagogy, my memoir‑based archaeological metaphor, and contemporary AI‑assisted pattern recognition.

To be clear: the freewriting data stays within the enterprise AI environment, a human never sees the raw narrative, and the agent only surfaces patterns and training recommendations, not the personal content itself.

This framework was conceived, developed, and authored entirely by me, David Schachter. It reflects my unique intellectual lineage, teaching philosophy, and professional experience. While the initial problem space that inspired this work emerged from conversations about AI‑driven training tools, the methodology itself—its structure, processes, metaphors, and applications—is my original creation.

Overview of the Methodology (High‑Level Description)

The Schachter Method™ combines:

  • Freewriting‑based diagnostic prompts designed to bypass the “inner editor” and reveal authentic cognitive patterns

  • An archaeological model of AI use, where AI acts as an excavation tool that uncovers latent structures rather than generating new content

  • A two‑agent architecture, in which one AI agent performs cognitive excavation and another constructs personalized learning pathways

  • Narrative‑driven analysis, allowing training needs to emerge organically from the learner’s own language, stories, and decision‑making patterns

  • A process‑over‑product philosophy, enabling organizations to understand not just what employees know, but how they think

The Schachter Method™ is designed with employee trust as a foundational requirement. Implementation agreements include the following data governance commitments:

All freewriting data is anonymized at the point of AI processing. No raw narrative content is accessible to managers, HR personnel, or organizational leadership at any stage of the process.

Raw freewriting data is not retained after analysis is complete. Organizations receive training insights and development recommendations only — never the underlying narrative material.

Freewriting data may not be repurposed for performance evaluation, disciplinary action, or any function beyond its intended use in individualized professional development.

Licensing agreements include binding data governance provisions that ensure these protections are contractually enforceable, not discretionary.
